Triggers & Schedules
The Triggers and Schedules dashboard manages automated background jobs, recurring cron tasks, and one-time timer triggers.
Autonomous Scheduling
Orbicus can execute scheduled workflows without requiring manual prompt entry each time. This is particularly valuable for periodic tasks such as:
- Periodic Test & Build Verification: Running your test suite every two hours and notifying you of regressions.
- Dependency Auditing: Performing daily scans for vulnerable or outdated packages in your repository.
- Continuous Integration Polling: Monitoring the status of long-running CI/CD pipelines and alerting you upon completion.
Managing Triggers
The dashboard presents a clear breakdown of all active timers registered with the background engine:
| Attribute | Description |
|---|---|
| Expression / Type | Standard 5-field cron syntax (e.g. 0 9 * * 1-5 for weekdays at 9 AM) or a one-shot countdown duration. |
| Bound Workspace | The specific repository directory in which the scheduled task executes. |
| Next Execution | The calculated timestamp when the trigger will next activate. |
| Status | Indicates whether the schedule is active, paused, or completed. |
Creating and Canceling Schedules
Adding a Schedule
You can register a trigger directly through conversation:
Schedule a trigger to run `npm test` every weekday at 9:00 AM and report any failing suites.
The background engine registers the job and adds it to the active triggers table immediately.
Pausing and Deleting
- Pause / Resume: Temporarily suspend execution of a recurring job without losing its prompt instructions or schedule configuration.
- Delete Trigger: Permanently removes the scheduled task from the engine register.
- Clear All Triggers: Flushes all registered background schedules in a single action.
